What is biodiversity?
Biodiversity is the 'living' part of the environment. It includes all living things, including animals, fungi, plants and micro-organisms and the communities and habitats they form together.

Biodiversity is not just about rare or threatened species and habitats - it is also concerned with ensuring that widespread and common species remain an integral part of a sustainable natural environment.
