Fair trading

The law says that all products sold in the UK must be:

  • of satisfactory quality
  • fit for their purposes; and
  • as they are described.

The government’s Office of Fair Trading makes sure that consumers have as much choice as possible across all the different sectors of the marketplace.

West Yorkshire Trading Standards also provides advice and guidance on fair trading for consumers and for businesses. Use the weblink from this page to visit their website for specialist advice and information on issues such as -
