West Yorkshire Analytical Service is an official food control laboratory which provides a high quality analytical, advisory and consultancy service to both public and private sectors.
The laboratory has a wide range of experience in diverse areas including food and drink, industrial pollution, environmental monitoring, and toxicology. Work is undertaken for a large number of private clients, ranging from one-off analysis to large on-going quality assurance programs.
Statutory public analyst and agricultural analyst appointments are held on behalf of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds, Wakefield and other authorities in the region.
West Yorkshire Analytical Service is part of West Yorkshire Joint Services (WYJS). WYJS is run by a joint committee of councillors from the 5 Metropolitan Districts within West Yorkshire, namely Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield.
They provide the trading standards, archives, archaeology and public analyst functions for these authorities.
