The parks and countryside rangers carry out practical work on green spaces across the city in order to protect wildlife and habitats and to improve visitor access to the sites. Most of this work is carried out with the help of dedicated volunteers.
Practical nature conservation tasks carried out by the parks and countryside rangers includes dry stone walling, coppicing, hedge laying, tree planting and wild flower planting. We also help to maintain signage, structures and paths. Practical tasks vary with the seasons.
