Jobs and Skills offer a range of services and programmes aimed at moving unemployed people into jobs or training.

We have a citywide network of Jobshops which provide support to people who find it difficult to access training and employment. Our Jobshops offer a free, impartial, face-to-face information, advice and guidance  (IAG) service  on jobs and training opportunities, as well as providing help with preparing or updating a curriculum vitae (CV), support with completing application forms and internet access for employment and jobsearch. Jobshop sessions are also provided at venues across the city - follow the links on the right hand side of the page to find your nearest session.

Pathways to Work offers help to people in receipt of benefits because of a health condition or disability. A Personal Advisor will help you make the first step towards returning to work by creating your own choices programme tailored to your individual needs and at a pace to suit you.

The NHS Employability Programme in partnership with the Leeds Teaching Hospital has run for ten years. It provides opportunities for local unemployed people to train and gain work experience in a hospital environment. Information sessions run throughout the year for opportunities to train for work as Clerical Administrators and Nursing Assistants.

Work4Leeds Apprenticeships is administered by Jobs and Skills and is the corporate employer-led Apprenticeship programme. It forms part of the Council's recruitment strategy to employ more apprentices within the organisation.

Jobs and Skills are a key contributor to the regeneration of communities. Our Employer Engagement team offer local employers comprehensive support to help them recruit and retain suitable and committed employees.

Adult Learning provides local and accessible learning to families and adults across Leeds. Learning takes place in over two hundred different locations throughout the city offering sessions in everything from basic music, to arts and crafts, confidence building to digital photography. Learning can lead to qualifications or can be for personal and community development.

Jobs and Skills work in partnership with Leeds College of Building to provide construction training.
