Swimming is one of the best all-round forms of exercise and can be enjoyed by everyone, regardless of their age or ability.

Big Splash
We’ve joined forces with British Swimming and the BBC to be bring the Big Splash to Leeds. To celebrate we’ve given all our family swim sessions a Big Splash makeover with the focus firmly on having fun in the pool.

Types of swimming
Leisure centre swim programmes offer a wide selection of swimming sessions, timetables are available to download from the leisure centre pages.
Swimming lessons are available at all the above pools.
Learn to swim programme at Armley, Rothwell, Scott Hall and Wetherby
Dolphin Award scheme at all other leisure centres – excluding Garforth
Adult and toddler swimming sessions are available at Aireborough, Armley, Kirkstall, Kippax, Morley, Scott Hall and Wetherby leisure centres. For further information please contact the individual leisure centres.
Swimming lessons start for children aged from 4 months and continue through to lessons for adults.
Masters swimming sessions are coached swimming sessions open to anyone over 18 years of age (under 18 years please speak to the individual leisure centres). Sessions cater for swimmers of all abilities from competitive swimmers and tri-athletes to people who simply want to maintain or improve their fitness or want to improve their stroke. Sessions are available at the Aquatics centre, Morley leisure centre and Wetherby leisure centre.
Life saving in Leeds offers a comprehensive programme starting with Rookie (junior lifesaving) classes, which are available across the city.
Performance
Swimming training scheme
We run a swimming training scheme for competitive swimmers. The scheme is a natural progression for 6-10 year olds from the council's learn to swim programme (swimming lessons).
Diving training scheme
The diving training scheme has been designed to offer the people of Leeds the opportunity to participate in diving at all levels from recreation to excellence. All sessions are held at the Aquatics centre.
Aquatics clubs
Our leisure centres offer a variety of aquatics based clubs such as
