Education Leeds
From 1 April 2011 the educational support services previously provided by Education Leeds will be provided by Leeds City Council through a new children’s services department.
This website will eventually include information about education and education support services. In the meantime, the information published on Education Leeds website is still correct, so please continue to use that site and be aware that references to Education Leeds may remain in some of the content and documents available.
School closures
Parents and carers should listen to BBC Radio Leeds (92.4 and 95.3fm /DAB/ 774am or) or Radio Aire (96.3fm) for news of any impact on the city's schools.
Admissions
We make arrangements for parents to apply for a school place in reception (primary schools), year 3 (junior schools) and year 7 (secondary schools.) We also have arrangements for parents to apply for a school outside of the normal arrangements, eg if parents move house.

Primary provision consultations
Following its meeting on the 4 January 2012, the Executive Board of Leeds City Council approved statutory notices for the proposals below, to expand primary school provision in 2013 and 2014:

Competition for a new school in Harehills to open September 2013: Approved the publication of an 'invitation to bid' statutory notice for a proposed new 420 place school with a 26 place nursery on land at Florence Street to serve families in that area.

Competition for a new school in South Leeds to open September 2014: Approved the publication of an 'invitation to bid' statutory notice for a proposed new 420 place school with a 26 place nursery on land at the former South Leeds sports centre to serve families in that area.

Expansion of Morley Newlands Primary School from September 2013: Approved the publication of a statutory notice for the expansion of Morley Newlands Primary School from 420 pupils to 630 pupils.

Employment and skills
We have an award-winning employment and skills service, working to remove inequalities in education and improve access to employment in Leeds.
Adult Learning provides local and accessible learning to families and adults across Leeds. Learning can be for fun, lead to qualifications or for personal and community development.
The Neighbourhood Learning Project provides Neighbourhood E-learning; delivering basic ICT skills to groups of adults in their own community, free of charge.
