The Leeds district can boast a wide variety of wildlife which assists in providing an attractive environment in which to live, work and invest. Maintaining and enhancing biodiversity is central to our overall aim of more sustainable development.

Leeds City Council wishes to encourage development which is of a high standard and which makes a positive contribution to the protection and enhancement of the environment of the district. It has produced guidelines for developers in Leeds.

They set out the type of information expected to be provided when submitting a planning application, the basic principles of biodiversity conservation and development and sources of further information and advice.
