Find out about us, learn about how you can help and understand what is happening with the East and South East Leeds regeneration initiative (EASEL).

The council wants to bring the benefits of a prosperous, vibrant and attractive city to all of the people of Leeds. The council wants EASEL to make this happen in some of the most deprived areas in Leeds and in the country. The council’s ambition is to build strong mixed communities in the EASEL area, communities with pride, respect and opportunity.

To make this happen we are committed to involving local people in helping to shape the future of their areas as we seek to bring investment and opportunity in the following areas:

  • bringing new housing options, with affordable homes to buy and to rent;
  • improving schools and giving people opportunities for training, employment and enterprise;
  • tackling worklessness and fuel poverty and raising household incomes;
  • improving services in the communities, with local access to health, sport, green spaces, leisure facilities and a clean environment
  • encouraging local shops and businesses and promoting good transport links to boost the local economy.

EASEL is about partnership, with the community, with local service providers, with businesses, voluntary and faith groups.

The EASEL team
The East Area Regeneration Team (ART) is a dedicated regeneration delivery team, which drives the planning and implementation of area-based regeneration programmes, in support of the East and South East Leeds (EASEL) initiative.

The ART works with partner organisations, the voluntary and community sector, local residents and private sector partners (businesses and developers) to translate the aspirations of communities into long term programmes to transform the EASEL area and narrow the gap with the rest of the city.
