We are committed to making sure all staff receive the right training and development to help deliver excellent services to the people of Leeds. Our aim is to develop an empowered, motivated and effective workforce.

You will get generous holiday entitlements. The amount of annual leave you get depends on the grade of your job but it will be at least 20 days plus 11 public or council holidays. If you work for the council for 5 years you will get an extra 5 days holiday.
Flexible working and job share arrangements
We have a range flexible working options including flexi time, term time only working and compressed hours to help you to achieve work-life balance.
We also operate a job share scheme which allows you to apply for all full time post (unless the advertisement states otherwise) on a half post basis (usually 18.5 hours per week). Job share applicants will be treated in the same way as full time applicants.
Maternity/paternity benefit
We offer very generous maternity benefits in comparison to many employers. New fathers can also benefit from 2 weeks paid leave.
Employee assistance programme
When you work for us, you and your family can use a free, confidential helpline service offering advice and support on legal, financial and health issues.
Childcare vouchers
If you have children, you can choose to buy childcare vouchers up to the value of £50 a week from your salary. This is non-taxable and can save you more than £800 a year on the cost of childcare. The vouchers can be used to pay for most types of childcare including nurseries, childminders, before and after school clubs and holiday schemes.
