Following the external recognition in March 2005, when we were awarded Beacon status for Asset Management by the then Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM), Leeds, together with the other four Beacon authorities, is still supporting effective asset management in local government by continuing the work started through the Beacon scheme, practical advice is being offered to help pro-active local authorities relaunch their asset management planning through the Peer Support Review and Mentoring Scheme in conjunction with IPF and IDeA.
This year will also see the delivery of a substantial capital receipts programme which includes the successful disposal of 100% shareholding in the Leeds Bradford International Airport by the five West Yorkshire local authorities (Leeds, Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield).
