Where a young person has committed a first or second minor offence they may receive a Final Warning or Reprimand as opposed to being dealt with by the Courts. The YOS is involved in engaging with these young people in voluntary interventions aimed at dealing with their offending behaviour.

Where a young person has committed an offence and has been dealt with by the courts the YOS is involved in the process, they attend court, write court reports and supervise bail where required.
YOS supervise any court ordered sentences the young person to. In the most serious of cases where young people are sentenced to a custody order, the YOS officer meets with the young person and with the prison service to outline and agree work to be done with the young person during their sentence
Leeds YOS also provides preventative services for young people through Youth Inclusion Panels (YIPs) and Positive Activities for Young People (PAYP) and services for Parents of young people who may need support. .
Leeds YOS also provides a victim liaison service. Victims of youth crime are contacted by the YOS and supported by a skilled worker. Through this process the offender is made to see the impact their offences have had on society, and the victim is put at the centre of the justice process.
