Medical waste collection service

Leeds City Council does not offer a medical waste collection service for diabetic needles or medicines.  These should be disposed of at your doctor’s surgery.

If you are housebound or unable to get to your GP, you or someone on your behalf should complete a medical collection request form which you can download or request from us on 0113 222 4406.  This is a weekly collection and the council will provide a yellow and black striped bag.

Replacement sharps bins are not provided by Leeds City Council and should be obtained from your GP.

Commercial properties will be charged for the medical waste service and rates can be given on request.

For further information, please telephone the environmental call centre on 0113 222 4406.
