Leeds City Council offers a medical waste collection service for both domestic and commercial properties.
(day-coded recyclables segregated on the basis of waste classification and suitability of treatment)
The domestic service is free of charge and we collect medical waste on a weekly basis.* The domestic disposal options service also includes the removal of sharps bins which have a yellow or orange top. We cannot dispose of sharps bins with a purple top.
Commercial properties will be charged for the medical waste service.
Colour coded receptacles are supplied by Environmental Services for both commercial and domestic service users.
Sharps bins will be provided to commercial properties only.

* Offensive/hygiene waste is packaged in black and yellow stripped bags. However we are currently in the process of phasing out the previous yellow bags for medical waste. Either bag is accepted at present.
