What are the Tidy Business Standards Awards?
Tidy Business Standards (TBS) is a national award scheme with three levels. Its aim is to educate, encourage and reward good environmental practice in businesses. The scheme encourages businesses to implement initiatives for waste minimisation as well as improving the local environment. In turn businesses will receive recognition and PR opportunities.
Businesses who sign up to the tidy business standards are assessed and, if they are successful, are awarded one of three categories;
Bronze – Businesses have a trade waste agreement and are disposing of their waste responsibly.
Silver – All bronze award criteria must be met and businesses must show that they are reusing and recycling their waste in line with waste minimisation initiatives.
Gold – Businesses are positively contributing to the local community and local environment.
Businesses will be awarded a certificate and window sticker. They will be reassessed each year to make sure they continue to follow satisfactory environmental practices to reach the tidy business standards. The award will be removed if they do not maintain their standards.
What is the process?
We will send you a support pack containing information on the tidy business standards awards scheme. There is a short questionnaire which you must fill out to show how your business meets the standards of the award you are applying for.
When we get this we will make an appointment to visit your business to assess it. We will also offer practical advice to improve environmental business practice and give information on how a higher award can be achieved.
After this assessment we will let you know which award was given and outline an action plan for further improvements.
Gold standard awarded businesses will be shortlisted for an invite to a national awards event run by Encams.
