Community mobile service
This is a weekly service provided by our three large vans. Each van has its own route and a regular timetable visiting each stop once per week.

Most stops are between 30 minutes and one hour although some busier stops are longer. Each van carries a wide range of materials including children’s library books.

Special mobile service
This is a fortnightly service provided by our two smaller vans. Again, each van has their own route (which sometimes overlaps the weekly service) and their own area. Almost all of the stops are of half an hour to an hour in duration.

These vehicles carry a smaller range of stock aimed specifically at older customers and those in residential care. They do not carry children’s books. The smaller vans help us get nearer to residential homes and sheltered housing complexes.

The customers
We bring library services to people who have difficulty in getting to the library.

The stock
Each of the community vans has around 2,500 books and the special mobiles around 1,000 and about the same number out on loan. We have a wide variety of fiction and non fiction. If we do not have a book you want we can order it from our main library for a small charge. About 20% of our adult fiction is in large print.
