The Carriageworks theatre is i n a prime location on Millennium Square, The Carriageworks houses an exciting mix of plays, musicals, dance, film, exhibitions, community events and workshops.

With two theatres and six rehearsal rooms this state of the art venue is an important space for local and regional artists of varying backgrounds and abilities.

Since its opening in November 2005 The Carriageworks has been the new home for Leeds Civic Arts Guild, an umbrella organisation of approximately 15 local amateur performing groups that previously rehearsed and performed in the former Civic Theatre.

Whilst nurturing its important and long-standing partnership with The Guild, The Carriageworks continues to establish new relationships with local young companies, playing an essential role in helping them establish an identity through showcasing their work in its theatre.

Free theatre tickets for under 26s available from February 2009

Arts Council England announced today the names of 99 successful applicants, representing more than 200 venues across England, which have been invited to take part in a pilot scheme to give away 618,000 free theatre tickets to under 26 year olds in the next two years. 

The Carriageworks is proud to be one of these successful applicants. The initiative will launch in February when there will be more news on how to apply.
