How to become an Environmental Health Practitioner

If you want a career as an Environmental Health Practitioner (EHP), you will need to study at University or a college on a course that is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH).

Each educational establishment would normally expect a successful applicant to have Science A/AS levels at grade C or above. Alternatively, a university or college may accept an appropriate GNVQ or an equivalent BTec qualification. Universities and colleges who run accredited courses may have more flexible requirements for mature students. You will need to contact the individual universities for further details.

You will also have to complete some practical training, probably with a local council.
