The Wykebeck valley is a green area linking Roundhay Park to the Aire valley and passing through some of the main areas of deprivation in Leeds.

As part of the EASEL Regeneration Initiative, significant improvements to this greenspace area are proposed. This part of the city, after the area is regenerated could be a ‘beacon for green living’. If this happens people living in Wykebeck valley will benefit from a range of social, recreational, environmental and economical improvements.

We have now developed a framework document to guide us towards achieving these ambitions. The work will complement the Parks and Green Space strategy for Leeds which sets out the key priorities to 2020 in achieving a vision where ‘quality, accessible parks and green spaces are at the heart of the community, designed to meet the needs of everyone who lives, works, visits or invests in Leeds, both now and in the future’. The Wykebeck Valley has been recognised within this strategy as a ‘flagship for future leisure, recreational, educational provision and sustainable transport routes support.’
