Work will begin in spring 2008 to develop five neighbourhood plans across the EASEL area over the next three years. These plans will show how and when the proposals in the EASEL area action plan will be put into practice. They will also let people who live in this area, and other interested people, know more about the future of their neighbourhoods.
Aims of the neighbourhood plans include;
Affordable quality homes for each neighbourhood
Attracting investment and commitment
Setting the standard for social regeneration
Identifying individuals and groups who can become involved in EASEL projects
Raising awareness about the planned developments
Increasing community support for the EASEL Initiative
Providing clear guidance for detailed planning applications
Effective estate management mechanism to safeguard investment in new buildings, spaces and parks
Work has started on producing a Community Engagement Plan which will place community consultation at the heart of the neighbourhood planning process. This framework will make sure that local residents have new opportunities to get involved in shaping the plans in their area.
Proposals for producing the neighbourhood plans (and the community engagement framework) are currently being drawn up by Leeds City Council in partnership with Bellway Homes who are the council’s preferred partner for the delivery of the EASEL initiative.
As soon as we can we will let you have further information on exactly where and when the neighbourhood planning process will start and how local people, agencies and other stakeholders will be involved.
