The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister launched the Implementation Guidance for the Safer and Stronger Communities Fund (SSCF) in July 2005. They said if councils wanted to receive any of this funding they had to:-

“Improve the quality of life for people in the most disadvantaged neighbourhoods and ensure service providers are more responsive to neighbourhood needs and improve their delivery”.

In Leeds we have produced the Intensive Neighbourhood Management (INM) Programme. This will help us to focus on improving existing public services in the most deprived communities in the city. It will also help us to provide new services that will address needs that we have identified in these areas.

We have produced 6 Neighbourhood Improvement Plans (NIPs), each one provides information about our plans for different neighbourhoods in the city. These tie in with key priorities and outcomes in a number of strategies and plans, including:

  • The Safer and Stronger Communities block of the Leeds Local Area Agreement ,
  • the 5 Leeds District Partnership Action Plans and
  • The Leeds Regeneration Plan.

The actions in the NIPs are intended to accelerate improvements in the overall quality of life in these neighbourhoods. You can download plans for the following areas.

  • North East Leeds - Scott Hall, Chapeltown, and Harehills
  • North West Leeds - Little London and Woodhouse
  • South Leeds -Belle Isle, Middleton, Beeston and Holbeck.
  • West Leeds - Fairfield (Bramley)

The plans for East Leeds will cover Gipton/Seacroft and Richmond Hill/Burmantofts.
