LEGI was a joint programme between the Department for Communities and Local Government, HM Treasury and the Department for Trade and Industry and aimed to promote enterprise within some of the most disadvantaged communities in England.
Sharing the Success was the brand name for the programme Leeds which created 341 new businesses in the Leeds area and
- engaged with over 4,000 people
- supported 854 existing businesses
- created 596 new jobs and
- introduced the idea of enterprise to 15,500 young people
Although this programme’s funding has come to an end there is still much enterprise support available in many parts of Leeds. Some of this comes from the legacy funding for LEGI and also from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), as well as other areas.
If you are considering starting your own business there are various organisations including the Chamber, Construction Leeds, the Business Enterprise Fund, Leeds City Credit Union and others that could help.
Some of the areas of support are:
- enterprise coaching and intensive business advice
- a chance to trial your business within the Leeds Markets
- help for construction related ventures
- enterprise loans if you need finance to get going
- enterprise centres where you can hot desk or hire office space
The updated website which is now called Enterprise Leeds is administered by our Enterprise Support Team and can be found here www.enterpriseleeds.co.uk. You can reach the team on 0113 2206350.
Please note some support may be postcode based.
