Working with children in Leeds

Careers in childcare and early education offer great opportunities to make a difference to local children and families. As National Government increasingly makes children and families a priority, more skilled and committed people are needed to deliver care, education, and family support in local nurseries, Children’s Centres, out of school clubs, pre-schools, and as childminders.

This area of work offers genuine career progression for committed, enthusiastic people, and plenty of opportunities for professional development. The Leeds Early Years Service supports local childcare workers and playworkers by offering them extensive training, and networks of support. This can be particularly useful for people who are new to the career and do not have formal qualifications.  For further information, contact the Childcare Learning Co-ordinator on 0113 395 0512.

If you think that supporting children’s physical, social, and intellectual development in their Early Years and beyond could be the right career choice for you, then call the Early Years Service for a full information pack on how to get started - whatever your current level of qualification.  There are opportunities for all, including those with no qualifications, and especially in some cases for those with a graduate qualification.

We welcome applicants from all sections of the community, and would be glad to hear from men, disabled people and people from Black and Ethnic Minority groups, all of whom are not currently well represented in the workforce.  Call our Childcare Workforce Team on 0113 395 0909 for your free information pack, or for further information about working with children view the SureStart website.
