The scheme aims to preserve, enhance and regenerate Chapeltown conservation area. Buildings have been identified based on their historic value and grants are available to property owners or occupiers to help invest in repairing these buildings and replacing or restoring missing historic details.
Chapeltown is unique as well as a handsome and desirable place to be. We want to actively engage with local people to develop and deliver the renaissance potential of this key commercial gateway into the city centre.
Chapeltown Road is a service hub for its community. Its diverse, specialist character reflects the many communities it serves and should be enhanced and protected from poor development.
Conservation in Chapeltown
In October 2007 the Conservation area was extended to the south of the original boundary and now includes most of the properties on Chapeltown Road.
It also encompasses the recreation ground on Savile Mount and Savile Drive and the buildings along the south side of Savile Mount.
