The Public Transport Improvements and Developer Contributions SPD, August 2008, introduces a requirement that all developments in Leeds which have a significant travel impact are required to mitigate that impact by paying a contribution towards strategic public transport improvements and enhancements.
The level of contribution required is dependant on:
- The location of the development
- The type of development (i.e. its land use)
- The scale of the development (i.e. its floor space or number of units)
and is calculated by means of a formula derived from central government guidance (See the adopted SPD for details).
An online facility has been prepared to provide potential applicants with an early indication of the scale of the contribution required for different types of development.
In order to use the facility the following information will be required:
The relative accessibility of the location of the proposed development: the appropriate accessibility category can be determined by selecting the relevant key map available on this page and checking whether the development site falls within either of these four locations:
- An identified town centre
- A location accessible to a high frequency bus service or
- A location inaccessible by public transport.
The proposed land use: by use class.
The gross floor space of the development proposed: in sqm (or in certain circumstances number of units).
Users should not that the figure derived from the online facility is indicative and is purely for guidance only. The figure arrived at will be subject to negotiation and agreement with us.
