West Leeds Gateway area action plan - issues and options consultation (LDF)

Please note: The issues and options consultation has now closed, with the latest stage being the preferred options.

Leeds City Council is working on an area action plan for the West Leeds Gateway area, which covers Armley, Lower Wortley, Upper Wortley, New Wortley and the Heights. The plan, which is being prepared in consultation with local communities, businesses and organisations, will guide regeneration and development over the next 15-20 years.

Initial Consultation

A successful Public Consultation on the Issues and Options for West Leeds Gateway was undertaken during November/December 2006.

Three alternative options were given:

  • Option 1: Minor change - Limited development and investment
  • Option 2: Moderate change - Medium change and increased investment
  • Option 3: Major change - Major development and maximum investment

The Next Stage

The responses from the initial consultation will feed into the development of Preferred Options.

  • A preferred options paper is being drawn up.
  • These options will be subject to a Sustainability Appraisal (SA) - a test of soundness.
  • Public consultation on the Preferred Options, along with the SA, will start in early 2008.
