City Centre Management

Leeds City Council’s City Centre Management Team work to improve, promote and manage Leeds City Centre; as a business location, engine of economic growth, retail & visitor destination and home to residents. This work focuses on:

  • Facilitating a strong economy and jobs – supporting; creation of jobs, retail, restaurants, independents and businesses in the city centre

  • Partnership development – working with a range of organisations across the city to improve Leeds’ city centre

  • Quality of place – improvement of the public realm and creation of innovative quality spaces in the city

  • Safe, Clean & Managed – working to ensure Leeds city centre is a safe place to be at any time, reducing the fear and perception of crime and general nuisance in the city

On-street, these goals are supported through Leeds City Centre Liaison Officers and our Street Briefings.

Leeds City Centre Liaison Officers are our key city centre front line service, working with partners to; support businesses, giving assistance and advice, reporting highway defects, monitoring and enforce licenses & issuing littering fines.

Leeds City Centre Street Briefings are a weekly opportunity for key partners and agencies with a presence on the city centre streets to meet. Here they share information and a joined-up approach to resolve issues affecting the area. The team discuss: Key upcoming events, Highways issues, Hotspots of concern regarding cleansing and antisocial behaviour, Policing and partner concerns & Quality of place issues.
