The Annual Financial Plan shows our budget for the year. It also tells you about our services and the basics of local government finance.
In 2008/09 we plan to spend £2.4bn. Changes since 2007/08 include:
- £1.2m extra investment into fostering services,
- £3.2m added into learning disability services, and
- £1.2m into improving waste collection.
The Leeds City Council part of council tax went up by 4.7%, which means that yet again it's the lowest of the large English cities.
The Annual Financial Plan is a flagship detailed document. To give a simplified overview of the main features it is now accompanied by a summary budget – use the email link to let us know what you think about it.

We always ask Leeds people what they think should be our spending priorities. We use:
- the Annual Survey (which asks 2,000 households for their views on a range of things),
- the internet and
- the About Leeds free newspaper.
We also consult with representative bodies such as the Chamber of Commerce and the Youth Council, and we're always looking for new ways to involve more Leeds people.
