Needles

Needles, syringes and other drug related items are sometimes thrown away as litter.

Please do not pick up needles, unless it poses an immediate danger to you or other residents. Contact us and we will safely pick up and dispose of them. You can use our free public helpline to report discarded needles or syringes 0800 1386227.

Any needles or syringes found on educational premises such as schools or nurseries during working hours should be reported immediately to the premises. Staff on site are trained to deal with such items.

Please note: We do not collect diabetic needles or medicines. These should be disposed of at your doctor’s surgery. If you have any problems with this please contact the Patient Advisory Liaison Service (PALS), on 0800 0525 270.

If you are housebound or unable to get to your GP, you or someone on your behalf should complete a medical collection request form which you can download or request from us on 0113 222 4406.
