Roundhay Park spans over 700 acres of rolling parkland, lakes, woodlands and specialist gardens.
The exotic glasshouses of Tropical World house a large tropical plant collection including recreated rainforest environments and hundreds of magnificent Succulents and Cacti. Tropical World is also home to the endangered Jade Vine, (Strongylodon Macrobotrys) which annually displays spectacular trailing flower racemes in a vibrant Jade colour.
Canal gardens is next to Tropical World and is the most pleasant corners of Leeds.
The canal was never a working water way but created as a linear pond, and contains ornamental wild-fowl. There is also a cafe and a display of Christmas lights (beginning two weeks before Christmas and continuing for a fortnight afterwards).
The Coronation Garden is home to two of Leeds City Councils former Chelsea Flower Show entries. Formally a kitchen garden supplying Roundhay Mansion with fresh fruit and vegetables, the garden is surrounded by a high wall, creating a sheltered sun trap. There are literally thousands of rose trees and many bedding plants provide additional colour.
The Monet Garden, which is based upon the gardens planted by the impressionist at Giverny in France, was introduced to the park in 1999. The gardens provide an elegant burst of colour and energy reflecting the French passion for life.
Adjoining this is the Alhambra Garden, which is based upon one of the worlds most famous gardens, the 13th century garden at Alhambra, Spain. The garden echoes the Patio de la Acequia, Patio de la Sultana and Mirador of Partal Gardens including fountains and formal hedged gardens.
The Friends of Roundhay Park Garden was formally opened in July 2005 and provides a popular yet tranquil space enjoyed by all ages. The inspiration for the garden was found in the Yorkshire Dales, and is influenced by the meadows and rocky outcrops of that landscape. This garden links a circular walk from Coronation to Canal gardens.

All the Specialist Gardens are accessible to wheelchair users. For visitors to Canal Gardens and the Tropical World Cafe, two electric scooters are available. To book the scooters please telephone 0113 214 5715 or ask at the shop in Tropical World.
