Burmantofts Designated Public Places Order

Burmantofts Designated Public Places Order

Notice is hereby given that Leeds City Council in exercise of its powers under the Local Authorities (Alcohol Consumption in Designated Public Places) Regulations 2007 has made an order which shall come into effect on 17 January 2011 identifying places detailed in the schedule as designated public places pursuant to the Criminal Justice and Police Act 2001 (as amended by the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006).  Full details can be found on the Legal Notice available to download as a PDF on this page.

The DPPO provides authority to the Police to confiscate alcohol that is being consumed outdoors or that is thought likely to be consumed (unopened bottles / cans).  Failure to comply with a Police request could lead to a fine or arrest.

The area comprises all public highways, streets, byways and other public places within Burmantofts.  The map that you can download as a PDF on this page defines the exact location covered by the DPPO.

The order does not apply, however, to pubs or other venues (or their immediate exterior) with a premises licence or club premises certificate granted by the Licensing Authority.  Nor does it apply where a temporary event notice authorises use of the premises for the supply of alcohol during the authorised times and for 30 minutes afterwards.  Nor does it apply to outside areas covered by a street café licence.
