Queens Diamond Jubilee
This year is the Queens' Diamond Jubilee and communiteis have been asking to commemorate the year by holding street parties on their residential streets. To encourage such events it has been agreed to simplify the process for requesting a road closure to enable a street party to take place. The cost of the legal advertising of an agreed road closure will be met by the Council.
Some Parish and Town Councils may also be considering more wide ranging events which may have a larger impact on road users, particularly bus operators and emergency services. It is essential that local councils discuss such an event with Highwy Services as qucikly as possible to ensure that any objections which may require cancelling of the event. Again, the cost of advertising such events will also be met by the Council providing the traffic managment arrangements have been agreed by Friday 13 April 2012. Events not agreed by this date will have to fund the cost of the legal advertising.
An application form and set of guidance notes is now available to download from this page. For further information please ring (0113) 222 4444.
