What is Aire Action Leeds?
Aire Action Leeds is a river management partnership in Leeds. We work together to create better waterways for people and wildlife. The core partnership is formed by four bodies that have a common interest in the waterways of Leeds - British Waterways, Environment Agency, Leeds City Council and Yorkshire Water.
We have an interest in all water bodies within Leeds and our focus is on the River Aire and Canal corridor as it runs through Leeds from Apperley Bridge down to Allerton Bywater.
We work together with a number of organisations to build on the fantastic regeneration in recent years which has seen a great improvement in water quality, we work to both protect and improve the appearance and wildlife habitats along the waterways and encourage more people to use this area.
We want to encourage more people onto the waterfront to:
- Walk or cycle to work
- Live or Work on the waterfront
- Go Jogging, running or cycling
- Take part in Fishing
- Just visit Leeds waterfront
- Row, canoe or take a boat on the Leeds waterway
- just enjoying the green spaces and wildlife
We want the waterways of Leeds to meet their full potential. We rely on the support of our members to make progress and improve the waterways in Leeds and are always looking for involvement and support from different parties interested in making our waterways better places for people and wildlife.
We also want to increase the involvement of waterfront communities in the planning and delivery of improvement projects. So, if you would like to find out more, or let us know of a local issue, or to get involved please Contact us
