RSS feeds

RSS feeds from Leeds City Council
We have introduced RSS feeds with the latest press releases on the Council website, and also Leodis - an online photographic archive of Leeds, with the latest images as soon as they are added.

What is RSS?
RSS stands for 'Really Simple Syndication'. RSS feeds allow you to stay up to date with the latest news and features.

To subscribe to it, you will need a News Reader or other similar device.

What is RSS used for?
Websites publish 'RSS feeds' to allow other websites to take a copy of their information.

Feed readers also exist that allow people to list their favourite feeds in order to see information from multiple websites all in one place.

RSS feeds are typically represented by a small square orange box.

How can I use RSS?
To make use of an RSS feed you will need to use a feed reader.  Feed readers can be websites, or they can be a program that you download to your computer.

Some browsers, including Firefox and Internet Explorer7, automatically check for feeds for you when you visit a website, and display an icon rss icon  when they find one.
