The relationship between Leeds and Lille dates back to 1968 and formed the centrepiece of the Yorkshire region Nord exchange programme.
Learning from each other
There are a number of established partnerships between schools in Leeds and schools in Lille, through which Leeds pupils are given the opportunity to communicate and exchange information with French young people.
Lille comes to Breeze
Each year a group of young people from Lille is invited to the Breeze International Youth Festival, during which Leeds City Council plays host to 250 young people from around the world.
Age Concern celebrates 20 years of collaboration
Age Concern Leeds, linked with a similar charity organisation in Lille called Carrami, celebrated twenty years of partnership in 2007. Carrami is currently organising a programme for representatives of Age Concern to visit Lille once more, which will take place in May 2008.
